10.30am: We'll meet in a local cafe and spend about 45 minutes going over some basic principles of photography: composition, exposure and focus. You'll feel more familiar with what your camera can do and how you can make it do those things.

11.15am: We'll head outside on a circular walking route around the beautiful and historic town of St Albans, stopping periodcially to practice specific skills and discuss how to take better photos.

13.15pm: We'll head back to our cafe to take stock of what we've learnt and to address any unanswered questions. If you feel comfortable, you might also like to share some of your favourite shots with the group.

13.45pm: The end of the workshop. You can stay on to have lunch in the cafe with me if you'd like, or if you have other plans, you're welcome to head off.

About me

I've been a keen photographer since my late teens. Apart from short stints in commerical and wedding photography, I've mainly chosen to keep my interest as hobby and I enjoy taking photographs of a wide range of subjects. With a background in science and 7 years of experience working in science communication and education, including teaching and training roles, I have a the skills to pass on what I know in a clear and engaging way.

Free of charge for those who are struggling with their mental health

No charge for those who are currently suffering from poor mental health and would struggle to afford the workshop.
