Description

Zoomed is organasing a series of photography workshop for young refugee and migrants funded by The Mayor of London's Culture Seeds programmed. Which is designed to help build refugees and migrants creativity and confidence in photography and composing images.

The Workshop

-Focusing on a small group of refugees and migrants age 18-35.

-The workshops will last for several weeks, with an exhibition at the end.

-The sessions will take place on the 24th and 31st of August, the 7th, 15th,21st of September in between the classes, the participants will create a photo project about something they are interested in, which will be edited during the last session on the 5th of October.

-The exhibition will feature the photos of young refugees and migrants and will take place on Thursday 17 October from 6 pm until 8 pm and it will run for 3 days.

Cinzia D'Ambros

The course will be run by photographer Cinzia D'Ambros who is an award-winning freelance photojournalist and the founder of the Hate Hurts project and Photojournalism Hub. In my work, I seek to draw attention to structural violence and abuses of state power on people. My work has been widely published editorially, including Der Spiegel, European Council on Refugee and Exile, BBC, Londonist, Vice, Huffington Post, Metro, Big Issue, New Internationalist, Oxford, University, Warscapes, Shelter, Save the Children UK to name a very few and commissioned by many charities, extensively with Amnesty International, Protection Approaches, Shelter, Save the Children, Per I Diritti Umani . My work has been shown in numerous international and national solo and group exhibitions. My ongoing project Hate Hurts has been shown in solo exhibitions across Europe including Norway, Germany, Italy, Greece, Czech Republic. Currently, featured in a major campaign by Amnesty International Czech Republic, showing in a solo exhibition in Prague and touring the entire country (2019-20). Further, Hate Hurts was selected for the European Month of Photography in Bulgaria (2018) and won a Photographers Gallery Award in London (2017). My short film Prejudice and us received Best Campaign Award from Hammersmith United Charities (2016), the photo book Transitional was Nominated by the publisher Dewi Lewis (2014), selected for the Athens Photo Festival (2015) and entered in the permanent collection of the Hellenic Centre for Photography. My photography work has received support from Arts Council England, Awards for All, Big Local Trust, Hammersmith United Charities.
