Overview:

This workshop is designed as the very first introduction to the Street Photography.

If you are curious about photography as a hobby, or even as a profession, but does not know where to start, this workshop is for you.

Street photography, also sometimes called candid photography, is photography conducted for art or enquiry that features unmediated chance encounters and random incidents[1] within public places. Although there is a difference between street and candid photography it is usually subtle with most street photography being candid in nature but not all candid photography being classifiable as street photography. Street photography does not necessitate the presence of a street or even the urban environment. Though people usually feature directly, street photography might be absent of people and can be of an object or environment where the image projects a decidedly human character in facsimile or aesthetic.

You should bring your own digital camera, we will explore the available settings and show you how to get the best of what you’ve got.

The Purpose of Photography

Photography is part of the evolution of the human desire to capture and express life; since the earliest days of artistic expression and documentation, we attempt to capture and record life around ourselves in various ways such as painting, sculpting, writing and photographing. The question of photography's ultimate purpose is in many ways a deeply philosophical question, though the easy response can be seen in the ways people use cameras and what they choose as their subjects.
