A one day introductory workshop to help you grow your Photography.
During the day you will learn about the different types of cameras and what they are designed for.
We will cover the basic principals of photography and learn a little about exposure and aperture in a very simple and easy to understand way
We will explore light and why it is the single most important part of any photograph
We will talk about compostion and the use of negative space.
You will learn guidelines to follow which can instantly improve your images.
There will be an opportunity to take some photos and come back to class where you will have the opportunity to show your images to the me and the other delegates and get some constructive feedback.
Finally if there is the time I will also discuss post processing of the images and what software to use to get the very best out of your images. (some of the software is free)
What do I need to bring
Ideally bring a camera that can be used in manual (but dont worry if you havent got one as you can still join in)
fully charged batterie (2 or more is better). Memory card, Curiosity and Excitement!
Is my registration/ticket transferrable?
Yes of course. If you are unable to attend anyone is welcome to take your place
Do I need to bring a camera?
There is no requirement to bring a camera as you can learn a lot from the classroom session, however to get the most from the course I reccomend that you bring along any digital camera however basic.
Will I learn to use my camera during the course.
There are hundreds of different cameras and they all work slightly differently. Due to lack of time I will be unable to answer questions about individual cameras. What you learn on the course will be applicable to any camera but you will need to look at the instruction manual to find how to access the features.
What Level of Experience do I need for this course
The course is a very basic photographic course and we will be dealing with basic principles. No prior knowledge of photography is required but to get the most out of this course you should at least be familiar with the main controls of your camera (ie on/off switch how to adjust the mode, where the batteries and digital card go and how to review images.
Will there be an opportunity to attend other sessions in the future?
This is my first session but if it proves popular I intend to run a course running for several weeks where we can develop the basic ideas that this course will cover.
Will there be a lot of technical stuff on the workshop?
My aim is to make this course as simple as possible. There will be some basic concepts that you will need to understand in order to be able to improve your photograpy but jargon and words like fstop will be kept to the absolute minimum
Cost of the Workshop
All proceeds from this workshop will be donate to The Union Chapel. I am asking for a minimum donation of £10 for the day.
Is lunch included?
I have been on a few workshops at the Chapel and what i think goes down really well is a bring a contribution lunch. If all delegate bring something like sandwiches, crisps drinks then we can put this out on a table at lunchtime share the food and hopefully discuss all things photographic!
Is there any parking?
Parking isn't ideal but generally it's quite easy to find a place to park on nearby roads.
What qualifies you to teach Photography?
I don't have any formal qualifications although I am working towards my Licentiate with the SWPP.
I have also had several of my images publised in various magazines. I am not a proffesional photographer as this is purely a hobby for me but I like to think that the work I produce is of a very high standard.
I have attended numerous training course run by top photographers and I hope I can pass on some of the knowledge that I have learned over the years
Is the course suitable for children
Due to safeguarding issues this course is only open to people 16 years and older.
Do I have to join in the practical session and show my images
There is no pressure to either join in the practical session or show us what you have done. The aim of the day is to help you to improve. You will only recieve constructive comments about your images that you choose to share.
Once you have booked your place on the workshop please contact me on 07817 324621. I just want to chat to everyone who is attending the course so I can fine tune the content to make sure I cover as much of the subjects that you want as I can. I can also get an idea of the types of cameras everyone will be bringing.
DONT FORGET TO MAKE SURE YOU HAVE FULLY CHARGED BATTERIES AND YOUR DIGITAL CARD.
