Speaker: Dan Richards - Go for PHP Developers

Over the past 5 years the Go programming language has skyrocketed in popularity. The reasons for this are far reaching but at a high level center around speed, flexibility and developer productivity. But what does this mean to a PHP developer?

This talk aims to answer that question. It provides an introduction to the Go programming language, how it differs from PHP, why you should consider using it and (perhaps most importantly) when you should use it. The talk will also cover some tricky areas that can trip you up as a new Go developer.

This won't be a lecture on why you should always use Go because it's "just better". Go is a great language and can be complimentary to nearly any developers skill set.

Drop us an email, tweet us or join us on slack and say hi!

You can still register for this event and we'll be sure to update it with speaker details when we have one organised.

As ever we'll have some spots open for any lightning talks, discussions or general grievances anyone might want to speak about! Just get in touch with any of our organisers (@PHPDorset, phpdorset@gmail.com) and we'll be really pleased to add you to the ticket.

PHPDorset is a great way for first time speakers to get an idea of if they would enjoy speaking to groups.
