Event description
90 minute workshop introducing physical computing using a Raspberry Pi

About this Event

This 90 minute training session aims to highlight the value in delivering curriculum objectives through physical computing activities and will cover the following:

  • Setting up a Raspberry Pi computer
  • Controlling LEDs using Scratch and a Raspberry Pi
  • Pedagogical approaches such as pair programming and Parson's puzzles

All teachers / educators welcome, no experience of physical computing needed. The session content is particularly relevant to people teaching key stage 2 although it might also be relevant to teachers of other age groups.

Following this workshop there will be a drop-in 45 minute panel talk and Q&A with staff from the Raspberry Pi Foundation where they will be talking about everything you need to know to start a Code Club at your local school. Code Clubs tend to run for an hour each week at lunchtime or after school, giving children and teachers the opportunity to learn about coding and digital making in a fun and informal environment!

Refreshments will be provided.
