PHYSIOTHERAPY PRACTICE EDUCATOR COURSE

The Physiotherapy Practice Educator course is for qualified, practising Physiotherapists who want to be trained as Practice Educators. Their registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) needs to be active. The course is divided into:

Day 1 - Introduction theory to the role of a Practice Educator (full day and can be attended either face-to-face on campus or online)

Student placement to gain practice learning experience - minimum of six weeks. The Physiotherapist needs to arrange the placement via their department manager and the student placement coordinator for their site/organisation. It is recommended that you start the arrangement process for a student placement as soon as it has been confirmed you are booked on Day 1 of the course.

Day 2 - Further theory and a peer review of your reflections of your student placement to complete the course.

Day 1 and Day 2 are separated by six months during which it is anticipated that you will have been able to work with a physiotherapy student on placement.

You will receive an electronic workbook to use throughout the entire course before Day 1 and you should save it in a location where you can get easy access for the training days, recording your reflections of your student placement, and for any personal notes. It is recommended during your student placement that you frequently refer to your workbook and add any pertinent notes.
