Before you attend Day 2 you will need to have:
- Completed the eLearning PEAP Training Package and Attended Day 1 of the Practice Educator Course run by SHU.
- Worked with and supported a physiotherapy student for a minimum of six weeks whilst they were on their practice learning experience.
On Day 2, there will be reflection and peer to peer learning based on your experiences.
Details of Course Content
PEAP (Practice Educator & Assessor Preparation) eLearning Program (eLearning)8 interactive modules covering learning environments, learning theory, feedback, assessment and management of failing students.
Day 1 - Introduction to the role of a Practice Educator (online, half day) An introduction to the role of Practice Educator covering key features explored within the PEAP training aiming for consolidation of learning. An overview of SHU specific processes in relation to student allocations, placement feedback processes and assessment paperwork.
Day 2 - Review of your placement reflections with your peers and any additional information to round-off the course (F2F, full day)An opportunity to meet with peers, reflect and consider experiences of Practice Education so far. Problem solving and team working opportunities using real world examples. Reminder of SHU process. Q&A.
On completion of the course
After attending Day 2 you can receive, by email, a certificate to acknowledge that you have successfully completed the Physiotherapy Practice Educator course. Please email
ahptraining@shu.ac.uk if you would like this certificate. Please ensure that you give your Team Manager a copy of your certificate as evidence of your having completed the course and for recording your CPD.
Physiotherapy Practice Educator Updates
As a qualified Physiotherapy Practice Educator, you will need to attend a two hourly update session every two years to maintain your qualification. Do ensure that you make a note of the issue date of your course completion certificate and keep it somewhere that you can easily find it e.g., an electronic diary is a good place.
