Event Details

Marco Marconi

“An exceptional talent” John Priestly, Sirocco Music

A warm welcome back to pianist Marco Marconi, who originally formed an all-Italian trio after moving to London in 2012 and after a period of intensive touring recorded his debut NORDIK at Fazioli Concert Hall near Venice on the 33 Jazz label in early 2013 — a well received collection of eclectic genius which garnered rave reviews. Marco then released and toured his latest and critically acclaimed album Trialogue in 2017. Hot on the heels of Trialogue Marco Marconi Trio’s next album New Roads fuses bebop, ballads, bossa nova, tango and moody numbers. This is eclectic jazz for the 21st century — edgy, soulful, spontaneously rhythmic.

Playfully nick-named ‘The Doctor’ Marco Marconi is an accomplished, classically-trained Jazz pianist who grew up in the breathtaking region of Umbria in Italy, and who made a life-changing decision to move permanently to the UK in 2012 to pursue his musical career. He made the right choice.

Marco’s skill as a composer is so naturally distinctive and seemingly effortless that he’s earned a reputation as a class act not only in his native country but also on the British festival circuit and the buzzing London Jazz Club scene.

“An inspirational feast of stylish contemporary jazz…had the audience spellbound from the onset with Marco’s original compositions interspersed with jazz standards.” Stratford Jazz

“I think everyone that heard Marco play was very impressed and I was also overwhelmed by his dedication… Marco is a remarkable musician…” Steve Symons, Cheltenham Jazz Festival

“Marco Marconi is a remarkable musician possessed of rare talent… catch him if you can, you are in for a rare treat!” Alan Bates, Candid Records

Marco is a breath of fresh air for dedicated Jazz fans everywhere." Anthea Redmond, JazzBitesRadio.com

with Jeremy Shoham: sax • Rick Finlay: drums • Phil Scragg: bass

FAQs
What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?
There is on-street parking in the roads round the pub.
Colindale underground station (Northern Line) is a short walk away.

Can I pay on the night?
Yes, for those who haven't pre-booked there is a collection at the interval (although you won't be entitled to the discount on meals). We do expect you to contribute the normal admission fee unless you qualify for a concessionary rate.

Are there any concessions?
There is a lower ticket price for students in full-time education. Students and unwaged can also turn up on the night and pay whatever you like (or even nothing). We want you to be able to enjoy the music, and maybe you'll come back and pay the full admission in better times…

Accessibility
Deaf and disabled people can apply for an extra ticket, free of charge, if they would be unable to attend a gig or outdoor event without the active support of another person.
We encourage our audience to book online (we are too small to have a full-time box office) but if you have any difficulties booking on Eventbrite just call us on 020 8361 0265.

The Chandos Arms welcomes assistance dogs (or indeed all friendly dogs) on leads

Where can I contact the organiser with any questions?
Don’t hesitate to call Rick at Just East of Jazz on 020 8361 0265 for questions about the gig.
For queries about the pub — food, drink, access and so on, call the pub on 020 8200 0032.
