Event description

Description

Part of the Health and Human Rights guest lecture series

The Gateway Protection Programme helps to resettle the most vulnerable people from refugee camps across the globe, including refugees who have fled crisis and human rights abuse in countries such as Somalia, Myanmar, Sudan, Palestine, Afghanistan and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Amilee Collins is a Senior Case Worker for the Refugee Council, while Anna Darwick works with the Gateway project in her role as a Practice Nurse. They will discuss how the Gateway Protection Programme operates in Hull, welcoming refugees and helping them rebuild their lives in the UK, and will explore their personal experiences of working in this complex and critical field.

The evenings start at 6pm with a drinks reception and talks begin at 6.30pm. Please note these are followed at 7.30pm by an optional two course meal for Hull Medical Society members, a great opportunity for socialising and networking (£17.50 for Hull Medical Society members, £10 for HYMS students). Your free ticket covers your entry to the drinks reception and talk.
