🥒💚🔥South Yorkshire’s most happening pickling party is returning!🥒💚🔥

Our famous community judged competition is BACK and our tastebuds are already tingling in anticipation of the delicious concoctions you’re all going to enter 😋 Get your wildest creations a bubblin for the chance to be crowned a people's PICKLE CHAMPION!!

But that’s not all! We’ve got bands to delight your ears, screen printing so you can let the world know what a fashionable pickling babe you are, food and drinks to warm your little cockles in the middle of November and SO MUCH MORE.

COMPETITION

Submit your homemade creations in the following categories between 15:00 - 17:00:

➪ Jam

➪ Chutney

➪ Hot Sauce

➪ Not-hot sauce

➪ Pickles

➪ Ferments (krauts, kimchis, veggies)

➪ Drinks and vinegars (no alcohol)

➪ Firm Ferments (miso, cheese)

Tasting and (collective) judging begins at 17:00 and ends at 19:00 with live music to serranade you as the scores are being counted. The PICKLE CHAMPIONS will be announced at 21.00 with a live stream on our instagram for all those pickle enthusiasts waiting for results in the comfort of their own home!

FOOD & DRINK

Alongside the comeptition entries we will be selling warming home-cooked vegan food between 16:00 - 19:00. SADACCA will be running a bar and Social Pickle will have some warming non-alcholic drinks too. Social Pickle operate a pay-what-you can model so no one will be turned away for lack of funds.

WORKSHOPS/MARKET

From 15.00 - 17.00

🥕You will have the chance to get your hands in some cabbage massaging at our drop in communal Sauerkraut workshop run by Social Pickles fermentation enthusiasts...Don't forget to bring a jar to take your kraut creation home!

🥕 If cabbage massaging aint your thing we will also have a PICKLE PRINTING station with the chance to get your old tees screen printed onto, a creation station with drop in arts activities and a quiet reading corner for those who want a place to relax and read up on the fabulous world of ferments!

🥕Social Pickle will also have its own 'Market Stall'. Where we will have some of our fermenting and pickling creations from our 'Glut Clubs' made by the many hands of Sheffields pickling community.

MUSIC

We have a host of artists and bands to delight your ears whilst we count up the votes from the competition including:

Soup Review - the Pickle Fest regulars will be joining us for a stripped back set with one part of the duo, Mario D’Agostino taking to the stage... as it wouldn't be Pickle Fest without some Soup Review.

Lucy and Hazel - from our very own Sheffield. Expect feminist and anti-capitalist folk with lush harmonies and rousing choruses, equal parts love, rage and humour!

Oh Hippo - a dreamy indie six-piece with hazy layered vocals and synths will be winding their way across the peaks from Manchester just to join the pickling fun.

ACCESSIBILITY

The SADACCA G-Mill space is wheelchair accessible with an accessible toilet around the back of the building. Although the event will be held in one room, we will have a quiet corner with bean bags and soft furnishings and Pickle Volunteers will be on hand if you need anything 💚

SUGGESTED DONATION

As ever it is a PAY WHAT YOU CAN event so nobody will be turned away for lack of funds. However, if you do have some spare pennies knocking around this is a bit of a fundraiser! 2023 has been a fallow year for social pickle, but next year we’d love to be able to do even more to tackle food waste, acquaint even more people with their bellies full of microbes, and maybe even one day get a kitchen space of our own to be able to host more activity for you all to get involved with - so please donate if you can!!
