Join us for one of our popular dinner evenings at the Discovery Centre in the nature reserve. Enjoy traditional pie & mash with friends, family, or just yourself, while watching the sun set over stunning views of Rye Harbour nature reserve.
You might spot some birds too, perhaps Curlew, an elegant Little Egret, Swallows swooping over the marshes on their way to Africa or wild geese flying over.
What our guests enjoyed most about our last Pie & Mash evening:
The whole experience was great. Watching the sun go down and the birds arriving for the night. The food was also extremely good.
Tasty home cooked food, lovely environment with sunset view. Great service.
Delicious food, such friendly waiting staff and beautiful surroundings.
What’s included:
Start the evening with homemade Chicken Liver Pâté or Mushroom Pâté, served with crispy melba toast and caramelised onion chutney.
Then choose from fine locally-produced pies: Steak and Ale, Chicken and Bacon or Spinach and Mushroom, from ‘Kentish Mayde’, who've received over 45 British Pie Awards. Served with the perfect accompaniment of mashed New Romney potatoes, hailing from just a few miles away, seasonal vegetables, and the all-important gravy!
For dessert, choose from autumnal Wild Blackberry Fool with a zingy lemon biscuit or Sticky Toffee Pudding, served with cream, ice cream or custard - all freshly made. We source responsibly and support local suppliers.
It’s a ‘bring your own’ evening with no corkage fee. So don’t forget to bring along your favourite bottle of wine or ale! Cold non-alcoholic drinks and teas & coffees will be available to buy.
The price for three courses is £29.95 per person. Our child (or small appetite) half-size portion is £15.95. Proceeds from this event support Rye Harbour Discovery Centre.
