About this event

Mary’s Meals warmly invites you to join our Pilgrimage Walk of Hope event. This event will take place on Saturday 30 August from 10.30am to 3.45pm at Craig Lodge House of Prayer, Dalmally, Argyll. In this Jubilee Year when we are called to become Pilgrims of Hope, join members of the Mary’s Meals team and supporters from around the country as we walk together, reflecting on stories of hope and praying for our mission.

What to expect on the day

We will leave Craig Lodge at 10.30am for our walk, pausing along the way to reflect and pray together. We will stop for lunch halfway, and participants are invited to bring a packed lunch. On return to Craig Lodge, Mass will be celebrated in the chapel. This will be followed by tea, coffee and homebaking and a talk from Mary's Meals staff, plus the chance to see The Shed where Mary’s Meals began. The event will end at 3.45pm.

This event will include Mass and times of prayer during the walk, but people of all faiths and none are very welcome to attend.

Booking your ticket

Please book your place on the walk via Eventbrite, selecting the number of people you are booking for. You are invited to make a donation to Mary's Meals when booking your ticket - we would suggest £19.15 per participant, enabling us to serve school meals to one child for a whole school year! You are welcome to donate more or less than this.

Practical details

Carparking is available at Craig Lodge, along with toilet facilities.

The walk is approximately 7 miles/11km, and it begins and ends at Craig Lodge. The route is mainly along quiet countryside roads.

Further details will be shared with those registered in advance of the event.

Participants under 18

All participants under 18 must be registered and accompanied on the route by a responsible adult such as their parent, legal guardian, carer, teacher or youth worker who is also registered to participate in the event. All participants under 18 remain the responsibility of their responsible adult at all times.

Organised by

Mary’s Meals is a simple idea that works. By providing a daily meal in a place of education, Mary’s Meals encourages chronically poor children to the classroom where they can gain a basic education that provides an escape route from poverty.

We began by feeding 200 children in Malawi. Today we feed 2.6 million hungry children in 16 of the world's poorest countries every school day.

Our vision is that every child receives one daily meal in their place of education and that all those who have more than they need, share with those who lack even the most basic things.

Our mission is to enable people to offer their money, goods, skills, time, or prayer, and through this involvement, provide the most effective help to those suffering the effects of extreme poverty in the world’s poorest communities.
