William and Alexandra are modern-day pilgrims, travelling by bicycle throughout the world. Their odyssey began in 1996 and since then they have visited 48 countries in fifteen years, taking with them only their bicycles, a tent and their guitars.
They have covered over 33,000 miles (54,000 km) by bicycle, and have been from Russia to Ireland and from Norway and Finland to Egypt and the Holy Land, as well as across North America.
Inspired by Rudolf Steiner’s anthroposophy, they have visited many holy places and wherever they have stopped, have shared their songs and learnt the songs of the local people. In their presentation at Emerson, they will share with us what they have learned during their travels, their relationship to the many different cultures they have encountered, and some of the songs they have performed as modern troubadors.
