About this event

Join us for a free, two-day online pilot course designed for African and Caribbean women aged 18+.

Understanding Domestic Abuse – Taking the First Steps to Safety and Healing is a gentle introduction to recognising the signs of abuse, understanding its impact, and learning where and how to seek support.

This course is led by Tambu Ayis Support Service and is part of our EmpowerHer programme. Each session is 2.5 hours long and delivered over 2 days in a safe, confidential online space.

What to expect:

  • A supportive, non-judgemental environment
  • Simple, clear information — no jargon
  • Discussion on different types of abuse (emotional, physical, financial, digital etc.)
  • Tools for recognising red flags and staying safe
  • Information about free ongoing support

You don’t need to speak or share unless you want to. Cameras can be on or off — your comfort comes first.

If the course speaks to you, we’ll invite you to join our 10-week EmpowerHer sessions for deeper healing and support.
