What equipment do I need?

A DSLR Camera or Mirrorless Camera. Any make or model is fine. 300-600mm is ideal for the Pine Martens and the Squirrels.

What do I need to wear?

Wear something warm as it can be quite cold sat in the hide for a period of time.
The hide is a short walk from the parking place up a gentle flat sloping field so a pair of boots 
are also suggested.

If there is time and appropriate for the group we can cover other things. However a private workshop may be of more benefit if there are a lot of additions you would like covered.

No - lunch is not provided. Please bring a packed lunch.

Yes the cost of the hide is included in the price of the booking.

Are there strict rules in the hide?

Accepted Answer

Yes. To make the most of this hide it is important you follow the hide rules.

Please use the toilets at Tesco in Keith as there is no toilet facilities at the hide and when you enter the hide it is important that you remain in the hide until the owner comes to collect you.

Can I where perfume/aftershave or smoke in the hide?

Do not wear perfume or aftershave, this is very important as the Pine Martens are sensitive to unusual scent.

Strictly no smoking in or around the hide area

This is a quiet hide, please do not talk in the hide other than whispers as the Pine Martens can appear from under the hide.

Is accommodation provided?

No. The meeting time is 12pm. It may be that you want to stay the night before or the night of your hide visit. If you do please ask advice on best accommodation location. Any accommodation is at your expense and is booked independently of the hide booking.
