Event description
An opportunity to be inspired in your pioneering mission, celebrate and connect with other pioneers around good food, drink & music in Luton

About this event

Join us on Saturday July 16 for the St Albans leg of the Pioneer Practice Book Tour with Jonny Baker from (CMS) Church Mission Society.

Afternoon workshop 2-5pm - Evening 7pm networking with food, conversation, music, and short input from Jonny.

Jonny Baker (Church Mission Society), who is touring his book, Pioneer Practice will be coming to the St Albans Diocese. The book is superb, a thorough tool kit for those already involved in mission and those looking for new ideas, inspiration, and connections to resources.

This is an opportunity to inspire and encourage those of you involved in pioneering mission and will also give you an opportunity to network with other pioneers in the diocese as well as celebrating those pioneers who will have completed their Pioneer Enabler training this year and enjoy a social time with a bar, food, and music.

There will be an afternoon workshop from 2pm to 5pm at Luton Hat Factory and we will explore more deeply pioneer practice and to look at key areas: Build and Change which are the themes explored in the book.

Pioneer practice is about seeing possibility, dreams, ideas of how things could be better, new, or different. And then making something happen out of that seeing. The afternoon workshop will be practically focused with a mix of stories, exercises, poetry, songs, conversation, inspiration, and encouragement. It’s for you if you are interested in pioneering or in encouraging others who are. If you are new to the idea of pioneering, it will be an opportunity to reflect on how to get started and explore your God given ideas. If you have been pioneering a while it will give you some encouragement and practical wisdom for the journey you are already on.

And if you are in a team do come along together. There is such value in connecting with others in the area interested in pioneering.

Jonny Baker has spent his life pioneering, training and enabling others to pioneer. He set up the pioneer training at CMS which has catalysed all sorts of wonderful pioneering initiatives. During lockdown he wrote the full colour book Pioneer Practice book and is looking forward to the tour to share some of the ideas and stories from that and reconnect with pioneers round the country. The book is available from https://www.getsidetracked.co/

If you can only make one of the afternoon or evening that is fine. We’d love to see you regardless. We are asking for £10 to cover food costs but if you can’t afford it don’t let that stop you by contacting us on reachingnewpeople@stalbans.anglican.org
