From Hippocrates to William Harvey, Marie Stopes to Marie Curie, Abroise Pare to Edward Jenner, Alexander Fleming to Florey and Chain.


London's medical quarter has been at the heart of scientific progress for centuries. Within two miles of the Royal College of Physicians anaesthesia was first deployed, antiseptics invented and antibiotics discovered.


This tour explores these remarkable discoveries and how they disrupted received wisdom and medical practice.


See the places where healing changed forever, meet the people responsible and hear their astounding stories.



This walk commences at The Royal College of Physicians and lasts around 2½ to 3 hours including a highlights tour of the Royal College, its museum and collections*.

Free online booking for our scheduled events is highly recommended using Eventbrite. A small number of turn-up tickets are available on the day, but cannot be guaranteed.
