Description

PITstop advanced 3-day course

Medway Clinical Commissioning group has successfully secured a two-year training project to expand and develop the expertise in diabetes management via the Paula Carr Diabetes Trust.

This project aims to reach our 50 general practices with the aim of upskilling the primary care workforce to:

  • Provide a robust and sustainable strategy to the delivery of high-quality care for people with diabetes and those at risk of developing diabetes

  • Reduce variations in care

  • Improve uptake of structured patient education and lifestyle services

  • Encourage proactive, appropriate management to improve patient outcomes

This programme for injectable therapies designed to you a practical, well-evaluated course that gives practice teams the confidence, resources and skills to support people with type 2 diabetes on more complex medication regimens, including GLP-1 and insulin therapy.

PITstop is nationally recognised by Diabetes UK, the RCGP and NICE.

You can complete the accreditation or attend for CPD purposes only.

This course is for:

PN, NP, CP and GPs experienced in delivering diabetes care wanting to support people with type 2 diabetes already on insulin, initiate GLP-1 mimetics and initiate insulin.

You are expected to have a foundation level certificate or attended one of the PrePITstop options or be prepared to complete online training.

We recommend a team approach to enhanced diabetes service provision so patients have a team of clinicians to access, preventing reliance on one person. It is important that at least one team member is a prescriber.
