About this event

About this Place Partnership event:

In an environment of ever-increasing uncertainty, shrinking resources and rapid change, the need to lift our heads up, find spaces of shared purpose and form collaborative alliances is greater today than it has ever been. Sport England wish to expand their successful place-based partnership work here in Cornwall which presents a significant opportunity with guaranteed investment if we can work together as a collective of influential system leaders.

If, like us, you are growing weary of decades of trying to shift stubborn, complex societal issues and recognise that we can’t solve this kind of problem without a different mindset and approach, then we invite you to join us and learn more about this unique opportunity.

Shift your perspective and see issues through different eyes to:

· Recognise that peoples’ lived experience of inequalities is shaped by factors outside of their control

· Understand that change may be required at a number of levels within a place-based ecosystem which impact on the choices people are able to make

· See yourself and your organisation as part of a wider interconnected web of influence and explore your own and others’ roles in tackling inequalities

Adopt a different approach and experience new ways of working:

· Understanding Systems - close the empathy gap and develop a deeper understanding about inequalities, local barriers and enablers by involving communities in generating insight that can inform real change

· Power Shift - move from transactional to collaborative cultures, building relationships and commissioning pathways based on trust. Work together to identify where investment is needed, narrowing the distance between those making the decisions/holding the resources and those affected by the issue

· Collective Leadership – explore new models and styles, moving away from top-down, centralised, territorial command and control towards an approach where leadership is system-focused and distributed, where people are empowered, nurtured and supported to affect change at every level

· Learning – cast aside the traditional call for pre-determined KPIs, targets and milestones for performance management purposes and instead favour an approach that puts learning at the heart of an iterative change process where measurement and evaluation inform cycles of shared understanding, reflection and adaptation

If any of this resonates with you or you are simply curious about taking the path less travelled, then the communities of Cornwall need you to join us for an afternoon of exploration and discovery.
