Event description
Resilience First is delighted to bring you this important webinar on tackling the climate crisis through cities.

About this event

A community’s connection to place is at the very heart of resilience and placemaking can play a crucial role in building upon this, ensuring the place is safeguarded and prepared for possible disruptions. Placemaking is a multi-faceted approach to the planning, design and management of public spaces and town centres. There are many examples and learnings from abroad where placemaking and community engagement has helped to deliver resilient places and cities.

At this briefing we will explore these learnings and what more can be done to ensure our towns and cities are better prepared to meet future shocks and stresses.

Panel:

Rachel Skinner, President, Institution of Civil Engineers (Chair)

Greg Clark, Group Advisor of Future Cities and New Industries, HSBC

Peter Baird, Senior Associate and Urban Designer, Perkins&Will

Professor David Alexander, Professor of Risk and Disaster Reduction, UCL
