Event description

Description

The ambition for the Oxfordshire Local Industrial Strategy is to position the county as one of the top-three global innovation ecosystems by 2040, highlighting our world-leading science and technology cluster and to be a pioneer for the UK and our emerging transformative technologies and sectors.

The UK Industrial Strategy, which the county’s Local Industrial Strategy is aligned with, is based on five ‘Foundations of Productivity’ and – alongside ‘Ideas’, ‘People’, ‘Infrastructure’ and ‘Business environment’ – the foundation of Places’ is outlined as a key area.

There are a number of challenges around ‘Places’, if the county is to meet the ambition of the county’s Local Industrial Strategy. This includes retaining our character whilst seizing 21st century opportunities for our businesses and supporting healthy and sustainable communities that are technology-enabled.

What does this actually represent and how does this also relate to the phrase ‘placemaking’?

Join us at our next Q&A event, as we ask the question: ‘Placemaking in Oxfordshire – what does it really mean?’

We are pleased to announce that the next in our series of Q&As will take place on Tuesday 24 September, at The Oxford Artisan Distillery (TOAD) in Oxford.

Once again, this event is a chance for Oxfordshire businesses to come together and discuss a key topic – tied-in to our growing economy – whilst hearing from a panel of senior business leaders from across the county.

We are also pleased to announce that the Q&A will again be chaired by radio presenter Howard Bentham.

Panellists include:

  • Ahmed Goga - Director of Strategy, OxLEP
  • Tagore Ramoutar - Managing Director and Co-Founder, The Oxford Artisan Distillery (TOAD)
  • Justine Leach - Director, LDA Design

Further panellists to be announced in due course.

PLEASE NOTE, IN A CHANGE TO OUR USUAL FORMAT, THIS Q&A WILL BE AN EVENING EVENT, DUE TO THE NATURE OF THE VENUE:

5.45pm: Refreshments and networking

6.30pm: Q&A event starts

8.00pm: Q&A event ends

Limited parking is available at the venue, so we would encourage the use of public transport, with bus stops at Warneford Hospital and Gipsy Lane Campus less than five minutes’ walk away.
