The Great Plague struck Stuart England in 1665, when Charles ll had only returned in the Restoration five years previously. However, he had the foresight to issue an Edict specifying that every parish must assign a house to be used as a Plague/Pest/Pestilence House to isolate and care for those identified as suffering with bubonic plague. This talk looks at their role and locations. There is so little information about these Houses, yet they played such a vital role in our public health history. Join Alison Wall, Health Visitor and researcher, to find out more.
