Planet Birdsong at Bamff (Birdsong walk and studio experience)
Event Information
About this event
Birdsong at Bamff
"A completely unique and unforgettable event."
Ornithologist and composer Peter Cowdrey of Planet Birdsong will lead one hour Birdsong Walks around Bamff Wildland in the grounds of Bamff with it's extensive beaver wetlands, identifying the songs and calls of the birds. Bring stout footwear if the ground is wet.
Peter Threipland will run a pop-up Birdsong Studio in the house. Individuals and couples have a ten-minute opportunity to get to know Planet Birdsong's basic principles by singing the various sounds whilst following spectrographs, or graphic images of sounds, and hearing them slowed down. It is a kind of karaoke which makes birdsong more accessible to the human ear and timeframe and is both informative and great fun. This is filmed and then sped up to the speed of the bird, and a video clip will be e-mailed on the spot to participants. See here and here to understand how it works.

The participants will be divided into 2 walking groups of up to 8 people, and the studio sessions will take place either before or after the walk in ones and twos. Tea/coffee and biscuits will be available while you wait or you may book your studio session, then fill any extra time by exploring the Bamff Wildland area nearby.
