Described as ‘An evening of extraordinary good music’ by the Guardian, this evening concert will take you on a magical birdsong journey.

About this event

We live in a world of noise and often shut our ears to birdsong, relegating it to a background, ambient noise. This magical evening concert, led by Peter Cowdrey, composer and founder of Planet Birdsong (, will bring birdsong back into the foreground, providing a space for us to listen and understand the voice of the land.

We will begin our magical birdsong journey outdoors surrounded by real birdsong and then indoors for a concert from The Conference of Birds (Jennifer Raven-flute, Liz Cowdrey-violin, Peter Cowdrey-piano) which will include Schmelzer’s entertaining Sonata Representativa, a musical menagerie from 1668, exquisite baroque works by Vivaldi, Couperin and Rameau, The Maiden and the Nightingale by Granados, and compositions and improvisation by the Conference of Birds, as well as gypsy fiddling from Eastern Europe.

Tickets for the event are £45 and include drinks on arrival, supper and wine at Skipwith Hall. The evening has been organised to raise vital funds for the Woodmeadow Trust and therefore we would be extremely grateful if, in addition to purchasing a ticket, or if you are unable to attend, you were able to make a donation to the trust, no matter how big or small.
