Event description

Description

'Community engagement in planning - making it happen'

The emphasis on early and meaningful engagement with communities in planning has grown over the years. More recently, changes to planning in Wales have introduced new methods for greater community involvement. To maximise these opportunities new ways of thinking, communicating and working are needed.

  • How are we to meet these challenges?
  • How should we encourage greater understanding of different perspectives, share knowledge and create new ideas for doing planning better?
  • How can we develop effective ways to better communicate complex issues to different groups in society?
  • And how can we ensure the planning system incorporates the views of different communities to ensure meaningful influence over the way places are developed?

The Planning Aid Wales annual conference will be seeking answers to these questions through an interactive programme of talks and workshops designed to encourage shared learning, innovation and networking opportunities.
