Event description

Description

This workshop is part of an RTPI Scotland programme of events to seek our members views on the proposals in the Scottish Government consultation Places, people and planning.

On 10 January 2017 the Scottish Government published 20 proposals for reforming the planning system, for consultation until 4 April. Places, people and planning is a direct response to the May 2016 report of the Independent Review of the Scottish Planning System. Some of the changes will require primary legislation, which we expect to see included in next year’s Programme for Government. Many of the proposals will however be implemented through policy and guidance.

RTPI Scotland will therefore be working closely with our members over the coming months to prepare our response. Alongside our chapters we are running workshops for members across Scotland, each one tasked with exploring one of the review’s key themes. We invite members to come and share their ideas for how they think Scotland’s planning system can be improved. Members are welcome to attend as many events as they want in any chapter area, especially if they are keen to be involved in discussion on the theme covered.

This event, hosted by the Grampian chapter, will tackle Collaborative Planning. Before the event a working group of Scottish Executive Committee members will prepare some key questions and propositions for discussion and debate. A couple of days in advance of the event we will publish an RTPI Scotland blog outlining these questions, so do keep an eye on our Twitter account (@RTPIScotland) and our blogpage (https://rtpiscotland.blog/) for updates.

We will be joined by a representative from Scottish Government, who will outline the proposals contained in the consultation as a whole.

This event is anticipated to be busy, so booking is essential. We look forward to seeing you there.

If you can’t make it along to any of the consultation workshops and would like to contribute, follow the action and input into the discussions online via our webpage, Twitter, LinkedIn or the blog.

Thanks to Brodies for providing the workshop space.
