This half day conference will explore the potential benefits of providing students opportunity to engage with external partners and communities. A wide range of embedded and extra–curricula examples from across the university will be presented including

  • models of placement learning
  • global opportunities
  • graduate attributes
  • and more. . .

with opportunity to discuss how provision might be developed in the future.


Outline Programme

12:00 - 12:40: Arrival, Networking and Lunch

12.40 – 12.50: Opening address

12.50 – 13.50: Keynote: Dr Lorraine Anderson, Head of Academic Skills Centre, University of Dundee

Whose Learning Gain? Surfacing student self-realisation through work placements

13.50 – 14.20: Student “Question Time” Panel

14.20 – 14.50: Industrial Perspective: Dr Matthew Jones, Head of Retail Modelling, Nationwide Building Society

14.50 – 15.00: Break

15.00 – 16.00: Parallel sessions (showcasing examples of good practice from across the university)

16.00 – 16.30: Plenary (to include lightning talks from various stakeholders e.g. Careers, GOC, etc.)
