Join NAE and musician and sound artist Tom Harris for an active listening session.
About this event
Thursday 15 April & Friday 16 April, 11am-12:30pm. Ages 7-10.
Tom will play a live soundscape which includes music and field recordings developed from a soundwalk inspired by Rahima Gambo’s series of works, A Walk (2018-ongoing) and Michaela Yearwood-Dan’s paintings.
For the first session on Thursday, we will actively listen to the soundscape, thinking about what it means to nurture and care for plant life. The soundscape was developed from a walk through the Forest Recreation Grounds and the Arboretum. The field recordings are observations of the urban environment and the living ecology around us.
For the second session we will paint to music, expressing our feelings towards nature.
NAE can provide free packs with art materials. To receive the materials please book one ticket for each participating young person and collect them from New Art Exchange on Wednesday 14 April, 1-5pm or the morning of Thursday 15 April, 9-10.30am.
Please ensure that as a parent/career you have read NAE's guidelines for online sessions here.
