Event description

Description

Plants for free! (well almost)

Would you like to learn how to grow plants from seeds and cuttings successfully, from first hand experience?

This is a rare opportunity to work alongside a trained horticulturalist, teacher and member of the Chartered Institute of Horticulture in Didsbury Parsonage Gardens greenhouse.

During this relaxed workshop Sue will explain how to select the correct seed sowing and cuttings equipment. Then she'll discuss how to collect fresh seeds or buy reliable flower and vegetable seeds and demonstrate different seed sowing techniques, which you will then have the opportunity to practice (you can take your seed trays and pots home with you). In the afternoon you'll learn about the principles of taking cuttings from plants and have the chance to practice the technique (again, taking your cuttings home with you.)

Complete beginners are welcome and the group is limited to ten people so that each person can receive support from the tutor.

The fee includes refreshments, but please bring a packed lunch with you.

Please wear comfortable practical clothing and sturdy footwear. We will be working inside the greenhouse, so will be able to avoid the rain, if needed!

Feedback from previous attenders:

Alastair "Very useful course which has given me a much more clear way forward with our raised bed/vegetables garden project and how to get started with seeds and cuttings."

Glen: "Excellent and very knowledgeable tutor ..... fascinating workshop with lots of useful practical tips and advice."
