Series 1 This series of talks aim to discuss and share the importance of planting in Landscape Architecture. Good planting design is essential to the creation of landscapes. Climate change and our use of outdoor spaces during the pandemic has made good planting in public spaces even more critical. Landscape Architects should be at the forefront of this revolution, but many feel that they have not acquired the toolsets to be the agents of change.Over the year, we will interview six speakers online and collect the attendees' opinions to inform future talks, bring planting to the forefront of the discipline, and make it accessible for all. Our speakers have strived for knowledge, experimentation and perseverance in their roles and are changing our perception of planting. Some have either evolved or even created their departments within leading established landscape practices. Others are solo practitioners who dedicate their lives to master their passion and endeavour to share the tools to do what they have learned over the years.More than ever, it is essential to share and discuss what makes planting important under our current situation. We will also learn about the pitfalls and success stories of those on the forefront. We will understand what has changed over the years, what this ever-evolving discipline has to offer in the future and demystify the myths that surround planting choices and maintenance nowadays.
