Platform: £2 Artist’s Talk - Anne Gilchrist
Tue 28 March 2017, 12:30 – 13:30 BST
Intrigued by the oil paintings comprising Anne Gilchrist’s The Oak Year project spanning the floors of Perth Museum and Art Gallery and the multiple screens and walls of the Threshold artspace? Join the artist in her first public appearance in Perth. Hear her in conversation with Dr Yvonne Reddick, a published ‘ecopoet’ and Research Fellow in Modern English and World Literatures at the University of Central Lancashire.
“The Oak Year project was directly inspired by my artist’s residency on the shores of Loch Tay. I love joining the community of plants and creatures there, watching, listening, observing, learning. Each leaf is unique and tells a story – caterpillars create delicate lacy beauties; autumn colours astonish with brilliance; the tenacity of a leaf that has lain on the woodland floor from November to May is surprising. This is nature hidden in plain sight where the ordinary becomes treasure.” Anne Gilchrist
