Presented by 62 Gladstone Street in partnership with Gateway Film Festival Peterborough Museum & Art Gallery | All screenings free A month-long film programme exploring migration, memory, and belonging through powerful documentaries, archive footage, and international cinema. Curated by Gateway Film Festival as part of Platforma Festival 2025.

Io Capitano tells the story Seydou and Moussa, two Senegalese teenagers who leave Dakar to travel to Europe where they believe opportunities await. On a journey neither could have imagined, the boys face the dangers of the desert and the perils of the sea in an epic coming-of-age tale that offers a deeply human perspective on the migrant crisis. Directed by two-time BAFTA-nominee Matteo Garrone (Gomorrah, Tale of Tales), Io Capitano received the Silver Lion and Best Young Actor Awards at Venice Film Festival, and has been shortlisted and longlisted for the 2023 Golden Globe and Academy Awards respectively.
