Don't Leave Me Now - Play Reading
St George's University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Home Instead Wimbledon and Kingston Home Instead Wimbledon & Kingston are working in partnership with Dementia Pathfinders Community Interest Company to promote ‘Don’t Leave Me Now’ - a rehearsed play reading written by Brian Daniels, to raise awareness of young onset dementia in local communities in south west London.
Don't Leave Me Now explores the impact of young onset dementia on two very different families. Rachael Dixey, cared for her partner with dementia for seven years. Cindy Toulman visited her husband in his care home every day for 10 years. ‘Don't Leave Me Now’ was inspired by these two real life stories.
With authenticity, insight and humour, Brian Daniels weaves the strands of these stories together to create a documentary style production highlighting the emotions, dilemmas and challenges experienced by people affected by dementia.
We welcome Rachael Dixey along, with Medina Publishing, to promote the new book 'Our Dementia Diary: Irene, Alzheimer's and Me' written by Rachael Dixey. Rachael and Irene are the subjects of the play, along with another family living with the impact of young onset dementia. Rachael will be speaking at the event as well and signing books.
