Play Together on Pedals - Free Early Years Balance Bike Sessions - Tranent
Event Information
About this Event
JANUARY SESSIONS ARE CANCELLED DUE TO THE CURRENT CORONAVIRUS SITUATION. WE AIM TO RESTART ONCE OLDER CHILDREN RETURN TO SCHOOLS.
Play Together on Pedals can teach your child the skills needed to ride a bike using a variety of fun and games.
These sessions are for 3-5 year old children on balance bikes. Once they learn how to balance and control these bikes, they can move straight on to pedal bikes without the need for stabilisers.
Following current guidelines, the 45 minute sessions will be for a maximum of four households. One parent / carer for each child is asked to stay throughout the session but maintain social distancing from other parents /carers.
We'll add more sessions on a week to week basis as we adapt to the latest guidelines.
PLEASE DO NOT ATTEND IF YOU, YOUR CHILD OR ANY OTHER MEMBERS OF YOUR HOUSEHOLD ARE EXPERIENCING ANY COVID19 SYMPTOMS.
FAQs
Do we need to bring our child's own bike?
If your child has their own balance bike with a working brake, please bring it and a helmet along. If not, please indicate on the booking form if you need one. (Our bikes and helmets will be cleaned after each session.)
My child's bike needs some repairs. Can you help?
Bikes should be in good working condition before you arrive. Our instructors will be able to assist with basic bike checks and will show you how to conduct these. If your bikes need more serious repairs, please take them to a bike shop to be fixed before participating.
What should they wear?
Just something comfortable that’s not too loose or baggy which might get trapped in the wheels. For footwear, trainers are best. Gloves are advisable at this time of year. Children are required to wear helmets at our sessions.
The weather forecast is bad on the day of our session. Will it still go ahead?
We’ll cancel the session if there’s heavy rain or strong winds, but if there’s just a bit of drizzle, we’ll go ahead. Please contact us if you book a place then wish to cancel.
Do we need to wear face masks?
No. You can if you’d like to but as we’ll be outdoors in the fresh air, this isn’t a requirement. Our instructors will aim to maintain a 2m distance from you and your children. If helmets or bike seats need adjusting, we’ll show you how to do it and ask you to do it yourselves.
We will have masks and gloves for any first aid treatment that is needed and hand sanitiser – in case you need to use an instructor’s tools to adjust seat heights or pump up tyres.
Can we book another session?
Please only book one session at a time. If your child enjoys it and there's space at another session, you can re-book.
Please note - the toilet facilities are not open at this site.
