Playful Play + Performance
Sat 25 March 2017, 10:30 – 17:00 GMT
“We don’t stop playing because we grow old, we grow old because we stop playing.” Bernad Shaw
In this workshop we will explore play (Le jeu) and the possibilities it opens in the dynamic relationship between two actors. Playfulness helps us to find possibility, joy, spontaneity and a re-newed sense of stage presence. The workshop is taught through:
- Ensemble work
Our approach is largely physical and our emphasis is on creative investigation of the body, listening, movement, and suggestion. Suitable for theatre makers who are at different levels of their career; actors, performing artists, directors and writers are all welcome.
The workshop is led by Andrea Cabrera Luna, co-founder and artistic director of Anahat Theatre. Andrea trained at the National School of Fine Arts in Mexico City and read Performance and Culture at Goldsmiths College, London. Her training is influenced by Jacques Lecoq, Odin Teatret and the Theatre du Soleil. She recently wrote and directed I Am That Girl performing in Edinburgh this year.
Andrea has a useful approach that is different from my previous classes. By including body movement this gives you more focus on what you are doing and therefore improves your performance. Also the interaction in class is strong.
This is a great class for any actor/actress. Just let yourself be open to it and you will learn a lot. Very interactive and lots of fun
Spaces are limited, you MUST book in advance.
