Sound is a vibration and when that vibration goes out into the world it affects those it touches. We often write because it sounds right with out considering why. This workshop aims to take a playful look at sound and how bring consciousness of sound to add a subtle, or not so subtle, additional power to our writing.
During the workshop we will be using our voices, alot, to explore sound including some of the following:
- Sound energy - warming the voice and throat, exploring noise making.
- Sound shapes - vowels and consonants.
- Words beyond speech - Pushing words beyond meaning.
- Chant and healing sounds - Applying chants and healing sounds to amplify the energy of what we are writing/performing.
- Beatbox a poem - short stanzas to bring out the percussive sounds.
- Paralanguage and other language sounds - include sounds that are not part or spoken language (in English).
- Movement and sound.
The shape of the workshop will evolve on the day aiming for a 3 hour session with breaks though people may drop in and out. These practises will move energies, so participants are advised to wear loose, comfortable clothing, bring refreshments and listen to their own needs throughout.
