Event description
Two masterclasses with acclaimed playwright Kaite O'Reilly, giving you the tools to write for performance.

About this Event

Tuesday 29 September 2020 1:30-3:30pm and Tuesday 13 October 2020 1:30-3:30pm [please book a ticket for each date]

In these practical workshops on writing for performance, participants will be invited to explore possible ‘entry points’ for creating scenes for one or two characters. Guided by a series of structured exercises, we will consider the six questions for storylining: who, what, where, when, how, why? and how to generate material.

Participants will then be given one week to write a short scene/play (not a sketch or comedy skit, please!) – maximum of 5 pages x A4 (Arial font 14). These pages can of course be the beginning of a larger script, but we must be strict about submitting just 5 pages maximum, as in week two all participants will be asked to read each others’ scripts in preparation for the final workshop. Kaite will base the teaching points for the second workshop on general feedback on the submitted scripts and how to make them stronger. Unfortunately, owing to time constraints we won’t be able to discuss or give feedback on each other’s work in the workshop.

Please note: You must be available for both workshops, as they are intended for the same people, to learn and develop your playwriting over two sessions.

Each masterclass is for disabled artists and will be accessible but please tell us your access requirements on booking. Please DO NOT book if you are not a disabled person.

Zoom details will be sent to you the day before the workshop.

Produced by Little Cog and supported by Arts Council England.
