This talk will look at some of the ways in which cinemas, and the film industry, met the various challenges of the era and at what audiences expected to see during their picturegoing experience in the 1940s and early 1950s. The talk will include comments on the fashion element of cinema in this era, with a selection of books from Chelsea Library’s Costume and Fashion Collection on display and available to browse.
