PlymLit17 Writing Workshops Combined Ticket admits entry to:

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 22

The Scene of the Crime

When: 10.00am - 1.00pm

Where: Plymouth Athenaeum

This fun and interactive crime writing workshop with Louise Sharland will focus on the key elements of crime fiction including plot, characterisation, setting and point of view.

Participants will take part in a number of exercises that will them to get started on an idea or develop an existing one further. Suitable for the beginner through to the more experienced writer.

Louise is an experienced short story writer with a number of awards to her name including The Woman & Home Magazine short story competition with her entry being included in a anthology alongside writers such as Ruth Rendell and Lee Child.

She was a recent runner up in The Daily Mail First Crime Novel Competition.

Writing Workshop with Natasha Carthew

When: 10.00am - 12.30pm

Where: Plymouth Athenaeum

Getting started with those first chapters - How do you grab a reader from the first page?

This unique workshop will explore inspiration, introducing memorable characters, themes and finding an original setting. The workshop will include some writing exercises and is open to all writing abilities.

Natasha Carthew is a well-known country writer from Cornwall. She has written two books of poetry and two young adult books.

Her first adult book ALL RIVERS RUN FREE is to be published by Riverrun/Quercus/Hachette in March 2018.
