Description


This course will give you an opportunity to dive deeper into the intaglio printmaking techniques. We will start with hard ground etching and aquatint, then introduce more etching methods such as soft ground, chine-colle and sugar lift.


We will also introduce multiple plates printing and experiment with photo intaglio process. Teaching methods will be adjusted accordingly depending on needs of the individual participants. Students will be encouraged to work independently to develop their own projects.


This course is aimed at those who are interested in etching techniques and would like to learn about the process in more detail. Ideally you would have prior basic printmaking experience, but it’s not a must as all the techniques will be introduced step by step.

Entry Requirements

Previous experience in printmaking is preferable but not compulsory.

Materials and Equipment

No particular equipment is required for the course, however if you have materials such as pencils,rulers,scalpels etc. please feel free to bring them along.


You will be advised during the sessions if particular materials are required.


Please note that all courses are subject to student numbers and will only run if sufficient numbers are achieved. Plymouth College of Art reserves the right to cancel a course if insufficient student numbers are recruited.
