Week 1 - Welcome to Illustration
An introduction into the world of digital illustration and the tools of the trade. Workshop to follow involving graphics tablets, Adobe Photoshop and graphic motives created using a limited colour palette! Digital artwork made easy!
Week 2 - Mask it off!
This session will see students creating textures and layer masks to add a new level of detail to their digitally created images. This session expands on from the previous week and gives the students a chance to build their own digital landscape.
Week 3 - Digital doodles - Part 1
Having sourced a photograph to work with (previous session homework) students will then use lightboxes to draw a character interacting with the photograph background.
Week 4 - Digital doodles - Part 2
Preparing the sketch for digital colouring, this will include a cleanup, level modification and background elimination! This is an essential practice for an illustrator, regardless of your process!
Using the magic wand students colour their characters digitally, using texture implementation if needed. Students will also learn the simple method of colouring using clipping masks. Graphics tablets can be used here too!
Week 5 - The last step!
Students will now superimpose their image onto their photograph and make any necessary tweaks they need. Each student will get a high quality digital print of their image which will get mounted and wrapped.
We then Celebrate the 5 weeks with some nibbles and a reflection period of next steps.
Finally students will be invited to a miniature private view for the following weeks to come!
This course is suitable for improvers, who have studied illustration in the past of have a good basic knowledge.
