Plymouth College of Art - 5 Week Jewellery Making Techniques for Improvers

This course is intended for students who have already completed a beginner course in Jewellery making with metals, or who have a basic knowledge of Jewellery-making techniques such as soldering, annealing, sawing and piercing, and some surface finishing techniques.

Course Content - Foldforming
The basics of foldforming
Experimenting with line folds
Forged folds, make a bracelet
Finishing and Colouring techniques
Students project time – With Tutor guidance
You will have completed a beginner’s level Jewellery Short Course or have basic knowledge of Jewellery making techniques such as soldering, annealing, sawing and piercing, and some surface finishing techniques.
Materials and Equipment
Demonstration or materials for experimentation in base metals will be provided free of charge but you may be required to purchase your own materials in order to complete your personal creative projects or if working in silver. Equipment will be provided but some students may wish to bring their own tools. Bring a pen, pencil and folder to put course notes into, and bringing an old cotton tea towel/flannel would be useful to you. Please wear old clothes and strong, flat, closed-toe footwear.
Please note that all courses are subject to student numbers and will only run if sufficient numbers are achieved. Plymouth College of Art reserves the right to cancel a course if insufficient student numbers are recruited.
