Event description

Description

Creative Typography through Letterpress - a relief method of printing letters.

· Working with wood type.

· Working up to A5, A4 & A3 size artwork to set up wood type, ink and print.

· You will print a number of one off special edition of cards and prints.

The focus of this master-class will be to print letters or words through creative play using wood type/letters using the original vintage letterpress printing resource.

You will be shown the basics of organising type/letters with overlays, repeats, and colourways, followed by how to use some of the old vintage presses in our print workshop at Plymouth College of Art. Our print shop is set up to enable you to get a feel for this special and unique creative craft. You will then have further time and spend most of the day to make and print your own work with support. Towards the end of the day you will have produced some beautiful one-off limited edition hand printed cards and prints of your own.
