Plymouth College of Art - Make your own sgraffito wall plaque series with L...
Mon 21 August 2017, 10:00 – 15:00 BST
Make your own wall plaque series, inspired by Cornish folklore with Laura Lane.
Be inspired by Laura's own work and explore the magic of folk tales, place, pattern and illustration, expressed through slip and sgraffito techniques. This workshop is split between design process development and technique.
Having completed both a BA & MA in Design, Laura specialised as a Designer Maker, working in ceramics. At the heart of her work is the exploration of site specific folklore in Cornwall, where she lives.
This is expressed through choice of materials and contemporary pattern & illustration.
In this masterclass you will look at her particular design process to create a series of ceramic wall plaques, that have a strong sense of narrative.
If you have a particular tale from your local area that you would like to use, please bring it along with you.
Learn slab rolling, slip and sgraffito techniques to create your own wall plaque. Decorate with surface pattern and Laura’s signature blue slip & white glaze. Your designs will be fired and ready for you to collect 2 weeks later.
