Through RCD, Richard has also created two site specific short films, with one for viewing in virtual reality on Oculus Rift and another with Stuttgart Ballet Soloist Robert Robinson. During 2017, Richard created and toured his first full length work At the end we begin through Studio Wayne McGregor’s prestigious FreeSpace program, before undertaking extensive touring of the work throughout 2018.

Since 2013, Richard has been commissioned to create works for Frontier Danceland (Singapore), Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (Singapore), Stuttgart Ballet, English National Ballet, Trinity Laban’s Transitions Dance Company, Swindon Dance, Chichester University, Dance City, Dance in Devon, York International Shakespeare Festival (Silents Now) and the National Youth Ballet.

As a guest lecturer, Richard has lead choreographic labs and technique classes to School of the Arts Singapore, Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance, Northern School of Contemporary Dance, Trinity Laban, ArtEz Institute of the Arts (Holland), Lasalle College of the Arts (Singapore) and Tring Park School of Performing Arts.

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION:

The first part of Richard's workshop will be a warm up class focussed on different forms and techniques that are included in his movement practice, such as floor work, capoeira, ballet and Flying Low. With a strong focus expanding the body's musculature through breath, the class will use crossing phrases and improvisation to combine these techniques before a full bodied more movement phrase to finish.

By exploring solo and group improvisation and partner work to come to choreographic decisions, the final part of the workshop will delve into Richard and his collaborator's creative tools and devises with particular reference to his recent full length creation At the end we begin.
