Plymouth: Future Homes for All

This meeting comes at a pivotal moment. On 11 June, during the Spending Review, Chancellor Rachel Reeves announced a landmark commitment to social housing, pledging £39 billion through the Affordable Homes Programme. This ten-year plan aims to deliver 300,000 homes, including 180,000 for social rent, with £4 billion allocated annually from 2029–30.

Shelter’s campaign calling for 90,000 social homes per year has helped shape this national conversation. Locally, Plymouth’s Plan for Homes sets out ambitious goals to deliver 5,000 homes over five years, with a strong emphasis on social rent and low-cost ownership. As Plymouth prepares to draw up a new Plan for Homes, this meeting offers a timely opportunity to influence its direction.

We’ll be joined by:

· Local and national politicians

· Chief executives of social landlords

· Housing campaigners and community leaders

Together, we’ll explore how Plymouth can lead the way in delivering the homes our communities urgently need.
