Event description

Description

Join this locally organised Memory Walk, and help raise funds for care today and a cure tomorrow.

Memory Walk is a sponsored walk for all ages and abilities to unite together to raise money to defeat dementia. With every step you will help change the lives of people affected by dementia – now and in the future. With every pound you raise, you are funding new research, providing precious support to more people, wherever they are, whatever they are going through.

You can register as an individual, or as a team. If you register as a team, you need only give the information of one person. You will recieve a confirmation email once you have registered.

The event will start at 11am, October 15th, at Smeaton's Tower on the Hoe. The meeting point will be clearly marked. I am asking that all participants arrive by 10.30am, to ensure that everyone is registered and ready to go by 11am.

I have chosen this route myself to be suitable for most ages and abilities. The route itself is a loop of about 2 miles, and will be at whatever pace you wish to set as we go along!

You can pay your sponsership money to our JustGiving Page, or bring it with you on the day to give to one of our volunteers. In both cases, please clearly state your name/team name. Our volunteers will be wearing blue Memory Walk t-shirts, and "volunteer" name tags. They will be available to answer questions on the day, and will be scattered throughout the walking group, should you need to speak to someone during the walk itself.

Please note, as this is an locally organised walk it will not have the same funding as the 'flagship walks' on the Alzheimer's Society Memory Walk Page. All cost of fundraising materials, decorations etc will be absorbed by myself. As a result, I won't be able to provide t-shirts, wristbands, or free refreshments, as is advertised on the 'flagship walks.' Avoiding large costs like this means that I can ensure 100% of the money raised goes to the Alzheimer's Society in the fight against Dementia.

You will however be sent a sponsorship form once you register, and receive a 'walking for' tag on the day.

Thank you for taking an interest in our event and I hope to see you there!
