Event description

Description

This months speaker on our 2nd Birthday is the fabulous Lornas Dallas

Lorna used to be a scientist, but is now an engineer. She works as a Graduate Safety Engineer at Babcock International Group, and in her spare time she chairs Women in STEM Plymouth (WISP), a local network formed to tackle the gender gap in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) in the Plymouth travel-to-work-area. When not doing any of the above, Lorna can be found enjoying the outdoors with her husband and corgi, or indulging her love of film with a Star Wars marathon.

In a talk entitled ‘One woman’s Journey through STEM’ Lorna will tell a fascinating story about how she started out wanting to work with sharks and ended up working with submarines! She will explain how a question we all face: “What next?” has shaped her career in STEM, and will also touch on the power of networking - hopefully dispelling the notion that scientists don’t like talking to anyone!

Look forward to seeing you there Clare and Alexis
