Event Details

Our talk will focus on the moments that have given us the financial system we live with today. Starting with the crime of the century, that is the 17th century when Charles 1st stole the gold of the nation's merchants. Touching on Gresham's Law, moving on to the financing of Britain's industrial revolution and the unintended consequences of the Gold Standard. Finishing in the 20th century with Bretton Woods, the Eurodollar and the loosening of financial rules in the 1980s.

Our speaker is Artie Lees. Artie has been a supporter of Positive Money for almost 10 years and has written two books on money creation and economics in general.

After the talk there will be a discussion - we are a friendly group with many regulars and usually a few first timers. We hope to see you there!

Looking forward to seeing you there!
